New Highs- Trump’s gas prices are in Biden territory

We put him back into the Oval Office because he promised us peace. After the disastrous withdrawal from Afghanistan, Russia’s unchecked war with Ukraine, and the October 7th attack in Israel, he promised to keep us out of foreign wars. Now, we’re in a war we can’t get out of.

He promised us lower grocery prices and more prosperity. My grocery bill is still in the stratosphere. My taxes and insurance have increased. And I’m working a second job to make ends meet.

He promised relief from the record high gas prices of the Biden years. I just paid $75 to fill up my 19 gallon tank.

In my hometown, in one night this week, gas prices went from $3.90 a gallon to $4.10. The next night, it rose again from $4.10 to $4.20.

The last time we saw a surge like this was spring and summer of 2022 when the prices hit all-time highs and maintained at that level for months.

And everyone was hurting for it.

Now, here we are again, despite Trump’s pretty promises. And we’re here because we’re in a war that we should have never started, a war where we are the proxy of the Israeli government to take out their sworn enemy. It’s the same enemy we were told we had neutered when we bombed their nuclear sites. It’s the same enemy who miraculously was only weeks away from having nuclear weapons- just nine months after we supposedly destroyed their entire program.

And now they’re holding us captive by closing all traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, all traffic including every oil tanker out of the region.

We were told that it would all be over in a month, month and a half tops. We’re now starting into our third month. We were told the strait was open and we had a ceasefire only to have everything fall apart the next day. This war is costing our country about $890 million dollars each day while every one of us who has to fill up our gas tanks is paying the price.

The powers that be believe they can bring Iran to its knees. What they fail to acknowledge is that Iran is a terrorist state whose ideology teaches that it is a good thing to die for the cause. Men like that will never concede defeat.

What we need now is for our leaders to find us an out before every one of us loses all we’ve worked for on the altar of someone else’s ego. It’s not losing the fight when you choose to walk away from that fight. Find us an exit strategy and do it yesterday.

If they fail to do this, their legacy will follow in the path of Biden’s, straight into the dung heap of historically bad leadership and overpriced gas.
