I’ve written before about my questions regarding the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie. In recent hours, there have been significant developments that will hopefully bring some resolution to the case. I, unfortunately, don’t believe they will find her alive but miracles do happen. But it they can bring her home, maybe the family can find a measure of peace.

What I want to focus on today, though, are the opportunistic jackasses who have tried to monetarily capitalize on this family’s grief. It sickens me to see what they have done.

We have the man in California who contacted the family for ransom but who had nothing to do with the kidnapping. He appeared in court yesterday on federal charges and I hope he goes to prison for a very long time for the extortion plot he conceived.

Then there are the original ransom notes who were sent not to the family but to TMZ. They clearly wanted the exposure in hopes that it brought some credibility to their demand. Unfortunately, in TMZ reporting on them, they gave these particular jackasses what they wanted.

Now there is the tipster who also contacted TMZ saying he knows who the kidnapper is and where Nancy is being held and he’ll fork over the information for money. It started with one bitcoin or approximately $65,000. Then when that didn’t get any traction he’s now jumped to $100,000 and he’ll also share her current condition. If he truly cared and/or had actionable information, he would contact the FBI directly who are offering a reward equal to his demanded amount. The problem there is that the information has to be credible and lead to a resolution.

What we see in all of these instances are ghouls who are trying to capitalize on the Guthrie family’s pain. They are the lowest form of human being. It takes a truly heartless individual to even consider such an action much less act on it.

What I do know is that they are taking resources away from looking for Nancy in order to track down their sorry asses. It makes me sick to my stomach to see such depravity.

It is my wish that every single one of these offenders has not only the book but the whole freaking library thrown at them. Only when all of these people are held accountable will this stop. Of course, even then, the vultures will circle the next tragedy. It is the nature of a world where evil exists.
