Opinions and outtakes on today’s news

A Snow Day and a Good Book

There is so much in the news and pop culture right now. I have so many opinions and ideas. I had ideas for columns rolling around in my brain.

And I’m not going to write any of them today.

Oh I’ll get to them at some point. I really can’t keep my opinions to myself. We have so much to talk about with more coming each day. I’ll likely wade back into the weeds of what’s happening in Minneapolis. I’ll talk about the rise of GLP-1s and the positives and negatives of using them as well as what the culture is saying and doing. I may even comment on the Blake Lively/ Justin Baldoni debacle. You never know where I’m going to go.

But today? Today, I’m watching it snow outside my bedroom window. It’s our first significant one in about four years and I’ve missed it. I’ll likely crank up the fireplace at some point. We have gas logs because no one wants to see me with a match as I’d probably burn the house down. I’ll cook dinner with my kid. And I’ll curl up with a blanket and a good book. I’m reading Jennifer Armentrout’s Blood and Ash series right now and it’s so good. I’ll be thankful for a warm place to be as I watch that blanket of white descend on the world around me to bring peace and quiet.

Sometimes you just have to shut off the noise and be present in the now. The news will still be there tomorrow but these moments won’t.
