So tomorrow is Christmas Eve and so many of us are going to be celebrating with family and friends. In this season, let’s set up a few guardrails to keep the holidays on a peaceful road.
- See your family. They may be far from perfect, but they are yours. You won’t have them forever so give them a bit of your time.
- Leave politics at the door. Give the heavy discussions a break for the sake of peace and goodwill to all.
- Embrace the memories. There are many out there who may be grieving a loss. It’s okay to cry if you need to but also take time to look back at those times when you had them in your life and try to find a few smiles too.
- Don’t focus on what gifts to receive but on the fact that someone cared enough to think of you.
- Make new memories. Do all of your normal traditions but try something new too.
- Take some time to rest. Don’t be so busy you forget to enjoy yourself.
- Be nice. Be together. Be thankful. And enjoy the holiday.
Most of all, have a very Merry Christmas!
